How to Pack for Cold Weather

Living in Los Angeles has spoiled me… I’m so used to warm weather that anything below 60 degrees is terribly cold. I’ve always wanted to visit Seattle, Washington, so I planned to take a short trip out there. I don’t know why it didn’t cross my mind that it would be cold and definitely below 60 degrees there.

But, that did not stop me from going. It was the perfect opportunity for me to come up with outfits for colder weather. Since I live in warmer climates, I don’t really have winter(an actual winter) clothes. So, I borrowed a rain jacket from my friend (so thankful to have friends I can borrow clothes from!) and I layered my attire.

How to Pack For Cold Weather Like A Pro

The only thing I packed on this trip were:

  1. A pair of jeans
  2. A pair of thick leggings
  3. A rain coat
  4. 3 sweaters
  5. Light sweaters, stockings, and long socks to layer under my clothing
  6. My rain boots

Not only was I able to layer my clothes to keep warm, but I was able to pack light too! (If you haven’t read my blog post on how I pack lightly, check it out here)

If you’re like me and don’t have warm coats, it’s important to invest (or borrow) in a warm coat and layer your clothes. My jacket helped so much and I took it off when I felt too hot.

I need to get more clothing to keep me warm, so let me know what your must have coats and jackets are; I won’t let cold weather stop me from traveling.
