I love smoothies! They’re a great way to easily add fruits and vegetables into your daily nutrition. Smoothies can be quite pricey, so I’ve been making more of it at home. Making smoothies at home not only saves me money, but it’s been fun to concoct my drinks using healthy and natural ingredients.
Going to wholesale markets are beneficial, so you can get more products for less. Don’t forget, you can always save fruits from going bad by freezing them. So, here’s my summer smoothie list that I take with me when shopping.
- Berries (I usually get strawberries and blueberries)
- Orange Juice (I usually go for fresh squeezed, but will sometimes buy it)
- Tangerine Juice (I buy this at Trader Joe’s)
- Chia Seeds
From the list, I like to add at least two of the fruits, one vegetable, chia seeds, water/juice, and sometimes honey for extra sweetness. If I have a smoothie with grapefruit or celery, I like to add some honey since these foods tend to have a stronger, bitter taste. I don’t add milk/nut beverages in my smoothies because I like my drinks more fruity with a watery texture rather than creamy.
So, here are 5 of my favorite smoothies that I am constantly making to keep myself hydrated and refreshed from the heat.
#1: Strawberry Watermelon
#2: Blueberry Orange
#3: Nectarine Grapefruit
#4: Blueberry Peach
#5: Strawberry Peach
What is your favorite smoothie recipe? I will love to try some new ones!
