I am sooooo happy to say that I am finally finished remodeling my kitchen! As you all know (if not, read my kitchen hack here!), I started with my kitchen cabinets. Next, I painted the walls white then added the little details. It took a year to get it to how I want, but I love the look of my kitchen. I wish I had the skills of an interior designer, but here are some tips to help you change the look of your kitchen and do a kitchen remodel on a budget.
Easy Tips To a Kitchen Remodel On A Budget
BEFORE

TIPS
I live in a small condo, so I didn’t want to spend thousands of dollars. Overall, I spent less than $500! Here’s how!
- PAINTING does wonders and changes the whole look of the kitchen. I decided to be super simple and went for white tones. With a small kitchen, I wanted the space to look bigger, so I went with white walls. I might (a big maybe!) change the color of my cabinets in the future, but all in all, painting definitely creates different vibes.
- Changing the LIGHT FIXTURES is something simple that can make your kitchen stand out. I didn’t like the old fashioned and almost cheap looking lights that came with my condo, so I replaced it with something more farm house looking and boy did it make a difference!
- DECORATION: Small kitchens are nice because you don’t have to worry about filling up so much space. It was nice to get a shelf for my wall and a painting to create a more rustic/farm house theme. Since my appliances were black and silver, I tried to match the decor with that too. I’m a very minimalistic person and don’t like clutter, so the less is better for me.
Aaand voila!
AFTER

So much cleaner and so different right??? I love it!! To be honest, the painting was not fun for me and I ended up returning a few lights because it didn’t fit the look I was going for, or the fixture itself was too difficult to install. It was a very timely process for a small kitchen, but after all the “difficulties”, everything fell into place. My kitchen is the heart of my home and I’m so delighted with how it looks.

GET THE LOOK
Remodeling doesn’t have to be expensive AND it doesn’t have to be perfect. Yes, there is more I will like to do with the kitchen, but it is just right for me. So, don’t be afraid to switch things up in your home, experiment, do things yourself, and ENJOY the process. I can’t wait to see what you all do with your kitchen!
