Halloween is just around the corner and I still have not decided what I want to dress up as, but I’m excited to play dress up. Who says adults can’t play dress up?? I always like seeing the imagination and talent people use to make their outfits. It’s amazing to see how many skillful and innovatory people there are. I cannot wait to see what everyone comes up with this year.
This year, I decided to go down memory lane and replicate costumes that reminded me of my childhood. I tried to think of costumes you can design using what you already have in your closet or what you can wear on any normal day. Here are a few quick, easy, affordable, and no sticky mess costume ideas!
FLASH BACK COSTUME IDEA #1 : ARTHUR
White Collared Shirt: H&M
Did anyone else watch this show growing up? This show definitely brings back memories and this costume was very simple to replicate. All you need is a yellow sweater, a white collared shirt, some jeans, and sneakers. To complete Arthur’s look, I found some inexpensive glasses and I decided to glam the costume up a bit by making the ears out of glittery cardstock paper.
FLASH BACK COSTUME IDEA #2: FROSTED CIRCUS ANIMAL COOKIES
Frosted Circus Animal Cookies are definitely a flash back to the past. These treats are always so fun to eat! The white and pink animals covered in non pareils always made these treats look so fancy and entertaining to gobble up. Growing up, I was convinced that the white and pink cookies had different tastes, but I’m pretty sure they are the same flavor. Or are they??
This costume is simple to create. You can get any style of a pink dress and add pom-poms to it. The double-sided fabric tape definitely did their job well and helped my poms stick to my dress the entire time. Double-sided tape is a life saver for this costume because I didn’t have to worry about ruining my dress by gluing or sewing the poms onto the dress. You can easily reuse the dress by removing the tape; so easy and reusable!
FLASH BACK COSTUME IDEA #3: POOH BEAR
There’s something oh so curious about Pooh that makes him so lovable. He’s fluffy, cute, and his obsession for honey is so amusing. Pooh is a sweet and enchanting bear that captures my heart. His carefree spirit, his fondness for his friends, and his love for adventure takes me back to my childhood.
Target has the cutest onesie of Pooh that you can definitely wear as a costume! It’s so soft and comfortable, so after all that sugar you indulge in, you can fall right asleep.
FLASH BACK COSTUME IDEA #4: MINNIE MOUSE
Extra accessories not pictured: Target
I saved the best for last! As a Disney and Minnie fan, Minnie Mouse has always been my go to character to be. For me, Minnie Mouse is a reminder of my childhood and all the joyous moments that I had at Disneyland with friends and family. To me, Disneyland is one of the happiest places on Earth and a place where I feel carefree and can enjoy being a kid.
Minnie’s costume is simple and once you wear those ears with the iconic bow, it’s easy to tell who you are. You can mix things up with Minnie’s costume by wearing different ears. There are so many places you can purchase Minnie’s ears and it’s amazing to see the different design of ears that people make.
What are you all going to be this Halloween? I cannot wait to see all the creative outfits you come up with. Have fun and be safe!
